God said He would
pass the judgment executed on the wicked down to their future generations. Then in Ezekiel 33:14-15, He said if a
sinner who deserves to be punished turns from his sin and practises justice and
righteousness, he shall surely live, and not die.
Sadly the wicked
tend to pass down idolatry and disobedient practices to their children, who
then carry on where their parents left off. Most people who refuse the Gift of
Salvation are facing one challenge or the other today for the sins of their
ancestors. Besides, if you are not yet saved, there are chances that you are
already walking in your ancestors’ shoes.
The only way you
can turn from your sin, practice justice and righteousness, and escape the
judgment of God for the sins of your ancestors is to accept Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Saviour, and remain in Him. The blood of Jesus cleanses all sins
and guilt. When you surrender to Him, you become a new creature.
The Holy Spirit then dwells in you to keep you from stumbling. No one is capable of living a life of
holiness without the help of the Holy Spirit.
God does not change what He utters (Psalm 89:34). What shields us from His judgement is the Blood of Jesus.
